Rewards

If you have a Shakepay account, you may be allowed to earn certain rewards as part of one of our rewards programs. For any of the programs detailed below, all relevant sections of the Terms of Use shall apply, including but not limited to definitions, the warranty and the limitation of liability sections. Shakepay reserves the right at any time to modify, suspend or cancel the rewards, the use of Referral Codes (as defined below) or participation in any rewards program for any or all Shakepay customers, at its sole discretion and without prior notice.
Shakepay Platform Referral Program
When you sign up for Shakepay, you will have access to a unique code and/or URL which includes the unique code (the “Referral Code”) that allows you to refer a friend to Shakepay and earn rewards (the “Referral Program”). For the purposes of the Referral Program, Shakepay tracks the use of the Referral Code to identify any new customer that signs up using a Referral Code (the “Referee”).
Advertising the Referral Code
You may share your Referral Code in any manner you deem appropriate, as long as you conform to this section. You may share the Referral Code through various sharing functions of your mobile device, your website, share it through email or other communication means, or embed it in graphical advertisements (“Ads”). Shakepay reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to demand the cessation of your use of any Ad, whether it violates a prohibition in this section or not. You shall be responsible for ensuring that your Ads do not violate or infringe upon any laws or the rights of any third party. We will not be responsible for any use of the Referral Code in your Ads. You may use the Shakepay name and logo only in the context of your use of the Referral Code or creation of Ads, and in conformity with all the obligations in this section and any other rules communicated to you.
When using the Referral Code or the Shakepay name and logo, you represent and warrant that you shall not:
violate any law, including Canadian or any other anti-spam legislations; and,
violate any third party right, including any intellectual property right; and,
promote, advocate or include violence, racial intolerance, gambling, illicit drugs, hacking or other nefarious technological activity, illegal activity or infringement on the legal rights of others; and,
misrepresent to the public anything related to Shakepay.
Shakepay Platform Referral Rewards
A one-time reward (the “Referral Reward”) shall be credited into both your and the Referee’s account within 5 business days of the purchase by the Referee of digital currency worth $100 CAD or more, in one or multiple transactions. The Referral Reward will vary depending on the Referee sign up date, as outlined below:
*provided that the purchase of digital currency worth $100 CAD or more is done within thirty (30) days following Referee sign up.
**provided that the purchase of digital currency worth $100 CAD or more is done by or before May 18, 2021.
You may earn many Referral Rewards, one for every Referee that purchases in digital currency the equivalent of $100 CAD or more. In order for you and the Referee to have access to the Referral Reward, the Referee must indicate your Referral Code during their account creation process, or must contact Shakepay support team up to a maximum of 30 days after the creation of their account.
Promotional Shakepay Referral Rewards
Shakepay may also, from time to time, establish special, one time referral rewards programs by which individuals may sign up to the Shakepay Platform using a specific link and/or referral code provided by Shakepay, and earn certain rewards (each, a “Promotional Reward”). Shakepay will determine the value of the Promotional Reward and any additional conditions that may apply to enable you to redeem the Promotional Reward - in such case, documentation associated with the Promotional Reward (“Promotional Materials”) will outline relevant additional details. Any such Promotional Reward shall be credited to your Shakepay account within five (5) business days following the fulfillment of any conditions described in the Promotional Materials. Promotional offers may be terminated and/or revoked by Shakepay at any time, without notice, and will only apply for new accounts created using the promotional code or link during the promotion period, as outlined in the associated Promotional Materials.
Shakepay Card Rewards Program
Card Rewards
Starting December 8, 2021, at 11:59 pm EST, all users that have a Shakepay Card (“Card”) will earn Bitcoin cashback rewards (the “Card Rewards”) on all purchases made with the Card. The Card Rewards will be two percent (2%) for up to a maximum of CAD $5,000.00 of purchases, after which the Card Rewards will be one percent (1%). All rewards are settled directly to the Bitcoin balance of your Shakepay account.
Boost your Card Rewards
From December 8, 2021, and until February 8, 2022 10:00am EST, your Card Rewards will increase by one percent (1%) for each Shakepay user that you invite to the Card, for up to a maximum of two (2) users. For clarity, if you invite one (1) Shakepay user to the Card, your Card Rewards will be three percent (3%) on all purchases done with the Card from the moment the user you invited obtains the Card; and if you invite two (2) Shakepay users to the Card, your Card Rewards will be of four percent (4%) on all purchases done with the Card from the moment the second user you invited obtains the Card. This promotion will be valid throughout the whole period, or up to a maximum of CAD $5,000.00 of purchases.
Shakepay Visa prepaid card is issued by Peoples Trust Company pursuant to licence by Visa Int. *Trademark of Visa International Service Association and used under licence by Peoples Trust Company.
#ShakeSquads Bonus Rewards
Shakepay allows you to create groups (“Squads”) with other Shakepay customers to earn additional rewards (“ShakeSquad Rewards”).
If you have a Card, you can create a Squad, or you may join a Squad to become a “Squad Member”. If you received an invitation to join a Squad but you do not have a Card, you must register for the Card in order to accept the invitation to the Squad. You may only be a part of one Squad at any time, and you can leave a Squad at any time.
Members of a Squad are split into two categories: Contributors and Rookies. A “Contributor” means a Squad member that has made at least one Card purchase. A “Rookie” means a Squad member that has yet to make a purchase with the Card. When a Rookie makes a Card purchase while part of a Squad, they will be automatically upgraded by Shakepay’s software to become a Contributor. A purchase of any size will qualify someone for the upgrade to Contributor.
Rules for ShakeSquad Rewards:
Each Card purchase made by a Squad Member will result in a ShakeSquad Reward being awarded to all of the Squad Members who are Contributors of the Squad (but not Rookies) at the moment the transaction is settled; and,
The ShakeSquad Reward amount will be fixed by Shakepay, denominated in Bitcoin and will be awarded once per day; and,
Shakepay may change the fixed reward amount at any time; and,
Shakepay shall limit the maximum number of Squad Members and may change the limit at any time;
Shakepay may pause or discontinue ShakeSquad Rewards or stop allowing new Squads to be created at any time; and,
Shakepay may close a Squad or remove Squad Members if it believes there is suspicious or fraudulent activity, a breach of any of the legal terms applicable to Shakepay services, or for actions that disrupt the community spirit of Shakepay by interfering with the enjoyment of other people of the ShakeSquad Rewards or any other rewards established by Shakepay.
Shake It Forward
Shake It Forward (“SIF”) is a unique rewards program that permits each Shakepay customer to “pay it forward” when they make a purchase. Unlike our other rewards programs, SIF is a shaker-to-shaker program: it’s peer-to-peer rewards that you will automatically receive, but you must opt-in to give (at the time that you make a purchase using your Shakepay Card, or at any other time). SIF is entirely optional and there is no penalty or any negative consequence to choosing not to participate in SIF as someone who pays it forward.
If you choose to participate in SIF, Shakepay will allow you to choose an amount of your CAD balance to be allocated to the payment of a purchase of a corresponding amount by another shaker, randomly chosen by Shakepay. Shakepay acts as your agent to find another Shakepay customer, and then deduct the amount of money that you’ve selected from your account and transfer it to the other person through a peer-to-peer money transfer.
This means that after each purchase, or at any time while browsing your application, you can choose an amount, of a minimum value of $1 CAD, and decide to allocate it to SIF. When you do this, the chosen amount is automatically debited from your CAD balance and held by Shakepay, until a shaker makes a purchase of a similar amount. That other shaker will receive a note explaining that their purchase has been covered by you.
By deciding to use SIF, you understand and agree that:
Your shaketag will be disclosed to the person who will have their purchase paid for by your donation;
You cannot choose which person the amount will be forwarded to, nor on which purchase the amount will be applied;
Shakepay is not required to, and will not, disclose the identity of any participant in the SIF program. Hence, unless the recipient contacts you to thank you, you will never know who received your money;
Every amount you choose to SIF is non refundable and non cancellable.
The goal of this initiative is to encourage kindness in our community of shakers. As such, any hateful messages or note sent through the “thank you” option that violates our Terms of Use may be sanctioned, at Shakepay's sole discretion.
Shakepay’s role in SIF is only as your agent, which you appoint at the time of your decision to pay it forward. You agree that Shakepay’s liability to you as your agent shall be strictly limited to $50. Like all of Shakepay’s rewards programs, Shakepay may choose to suspend discontinue the SIF program at any time, at its sole discretion, with or without prior notice to you.
SecretSats Rewards Program
Shakepay may decide to organize certain challenges that will qualify for rewards upon completion (each one a “Challenge”), as part of our SecretSats Rewards Program. Each Challenge will have steps to follow to be considered "complete", conditions that may apply and a reward for completion. Shakepay may cease offering a Challenge at any time; in such case, Shakepay will try to notify you in advance to allow you to complete a Challenge before it is discontinued. No rewards will be given for Challenges that are not completed by the date of discontinuation.
ShakingSats Program
ShakingSats Rewards
Shakepay offers you the opportunity of earning Satoshis by manually shaking your mobile device (the “ShakingSats Rewards''). To be eligible to the ShakingSats Rewards, you must refer a Referee, or be a Referee, and both must have their identity verified by Shakepay.
To claim your ShakingSats Reward, you must manually shake your mobile device until a screen appears that confirms you have successfully earned the ShakingSats Reward. You can only earn the ShakingSats Reward once per calendar day, and the reward will be deposited directly to the Bitcoin balance of your Shakepay account.
The value of the ShakingSats Rewards varies depending on whether you are an “Active Stacker” or an “Inactive Stacker”, as further described below:
An “Active Stacker” is someone that used the Shakepay Card or the exchange features of Shakepay (buy or sell digital currencies) at least once within the 7 calendar days prior to claiming the ShakingSats Rewards;
An “Inactive Stacker” is someone whose latest transaction with the Shakepay Card, or exchange on the application, is more than 7 calendar days old.
The reward value for Active Stackers is based on the table below, for every consecutive day that a ShakingSats Reward is earned. If you maintain your streak alive after you reach the last day of the table, you will continue to earn the rewards associated with that day for each additional day that you keep shaking.
Inactive Stackers will earn a fixed amount of 21 Satoshis per day. Inactive Stackers can still maintain a shaking streak, which will be displayed in the in-app screen confirming you have successfully earned the rewards. As soon as you become an Active Stacker (make a Shakepay Card purchase, or exchange), the value of your ShakingSats Rewards will be adjusted according to the table below and to how many consecutive days you have been earning the ShakingSats Reward.
If you fail to shake your device on any calendar day before midnight EST, your shaking streak will be reset.
From time to time, Shakepay may introduce special promotional campaigns or programs designed to enhance your ShakingSats rewards. These opportunities may allow you to earn additional rewards or modify your existing rewards based on certain actions or activities you complete. Each of these campaigns will have specific rules, requirements, and terms, which will be detailed in our FAQs. Please be aware that while we strive to offer these promotions to enrich your Shakepay experience, we reserve the right to modify, pause, or terminate any campaign or program at any time without prior notice.
